The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning about the possibility of severe thunderstorms in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle on Monday afternoon and evening.

The agency posted this statement on its website on Monday:

''Strong and Severe storms still look on track from 2pm-8pm across most of the Wyoming High Plains and into the Nebraska Panhandle. Storms will start firing around 2pm near the Laramie Mountain Range and nearby High Plains of Wyoming. The strongest storms will develop in the late afternoon and evening after about 4 pm over the southwestern Nebraska Panhandle and the eastern-most portion of Laramie County. Severe threats include heavy rain capable of producing flash floods, damaging winds, and large hail through the early to mid-evening hours. Follow us for your latest severe weather updates today."
