The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is predicting bitterly-cold temperatures as well as snow for southeast Wyoming today (Tuesday) and tonight.

The agency is forecasting Cheyenne to receive about 3-5 inches of snow.

The agency posted this statement on its website early Tuesday morning:

''Record-Breaking cold temperatures are expected today and tonight. Daytime highs will not be much higher than the single digits with very cold wind chills. Overnight temperatures will get even lower. Overnight lows Wednesday morning could reach as much as 20 below for some areas. This will likely break records for the coldest temperatures in October here in se Wyoming. Bundle up and stay warm as snowfall and cold temperatures continue today."
