Steve Miller’s Island Mansion Sells for $8.5 Million
Steve Miller has sold his luxurious retreat in Washington's San Juan Islands. The 39-acre estate closed for a reported $8.5 million.
The compound contains many distinctive features. The 11,000-square-foot main home is outfitted to go off-the-grid, with power capabilities for up to a year. Inside, the three-bedroom, four-bath residence includes a recording studio, stone fireplace and sauna. Exterior property highlights include a horse pasture, Zen gardens, a Japanese-style teahouse, hiking trails and a dock that can accommodate up to three yachts.
Miller originally put his home on the market in 2017. While the identity of the island mansion's buyer has not been revealed, listing agents describe the person as "a former tech executive who was especially drawn to the property’s private 410-foot, deep-water dock, the only one of its magnitude within the San Juan Islands."
You can see photos of the home below.
Miller rose to prominence in the ‘60s and ‘70s behind Steve Miller Band hits like “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run” and “Fly Like an Eagle.” Greatest Hits 1974-78 remains the group's most commercially successful release, racking up more than 14 million sales in the U.S. alone. The band is currently in the midst of a North American tour, with performances scheduled through the end of August.
Those disappointed they missed out on purchasing Miller’s former home, fear not. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer still has another property on the market. His 13-acre retreat in Ketchum, Idaho, including a 8,000-square-foot house, three guest cottages and a 4,000-square-foot recording studio, is for sale with an asking price of $16 million.
