Surprise! Jackson, Wyoming Is Not One Of The Richest Cities In America
Let me stop you before you say it, "Jackson isn't REALLY Wyoming". I get it. It's just this land inside our state that's filled with ski access and wealthy people. They don't have the same values as the rest of the state, and so forth. Totally understand the feelings on this. BUT, I'm pretty surprised by what I learned from this.
According to some data from Bloomberg, out of the top ten richest cities in America, Wyoming didn't have a single city that belonged on this list.
Here's the full list.
- Atherton, CA
- Scarsdale, NY
- Cherry Hills Village, CO
- Los Altos Hills, CA
- Hillsborough, CA
- Short Hills, NJ
- Highland Park, TX
- Darien, CT
- Bronxville, NY
- Glencoe, IL
No surprise that Colorado had a claim to this list. It also seems like if we changed Jackson to Jackson Hills, it would have made the list. There were four cities with a variation of "Hill". So, that must mean it makes the town more expensive to live in.
Now, I'm not saying Jackson is like our little brother and we have to defend it like it's getting a noogie from Atherton, California, but I have a strong urge to make some sort of point in its honor.
I mean, Jackson has all kinds of expensive stuff that only wealthy people can enjoy, it's also almost impossible for normal people to own anything there, even a stick of gum. Celebrities have homes there and you're telling me it isn't one of the richest cities in America?
Wow. I'm afraid to look at the Zillow prices on those places now.
