More than 50 miles of Interstate 80 in southeast Wyoming have been closed due to winter conditions and crashes.

A crash has forced the closure of Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Cheyenne, the Wyoming Department of Transportation says.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter has temporarily closed its doors after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The National Weather Service warned that power lines and numerous tree branches were expected to be brought down by the storm.

An employee told K2 Radio News that local managers would not make a statement, which is typical.

The incident remains under investigation, Veress said.

Beyond the impacted Wyoming facilities, the diesel shop in Glendive, Montana will be permanently closed.

The public will be notified when full operations resume.
