In the wake of the chart topping Déjà vu album from Crosby, Stills Nash & Young, each member put out their own solo album in the hopes that they would do well as individuals also. On this day, November 2, of 1970 - The Neil Young album "After the Gold Rush", was certified Gold, and would go on to Double Platinum 16 years later, in October of 1986.)
The album sparked a reaction from Lynyrd Skynyrd with their "Sweet Home Alabama" a response to "Southern Man." There were no hard feelings on either side though.
