State Champion wrestler Warren Carr from Thunder Basin High School in Gillette has signed to wrestle at the University of Wyoming.

Carr verbally committed to Mark Branch and the Cowboys on May 7. He signed last week.

Carr captured the 152-pound title by fall at the Wyoming High School State Wrestling Championships on Feb. 29, 2020. He defeated Sam Henderson of Kelly Walsh in the championship match.

Warren was also the Ron Thon Champion at that same weight on Feb. 1 of this year.

Carr finished high school with an overall record of 169-25. That included a 42-1 mark during his senior season. The lone loss came to a wrestler from Sioux Falls, SD in the title match at the Rapid City Invitational. Warren was 130-13 in his time in a Bolts’ singlet. He began his prep career at Campbell County High School, where he wrestled for the Camels as a freshman.

A three-time All-State selection, Carr also finished second at 145-pounds as a junior, runner-up at 132-pounds his sophomore season, and third at 126-pounds during his freshman year.

WyoPreps would like to thank Thunder Basin head coach Mikah Kadera for his help with this story.
