The Wyoming Highway Patrol has confirmed two fatalities in the large pileup on Interstate 80 approximately 18 miles west of Laramie yesterday. The Patrol projects this to be the final number of fatalities involved.

According to a release from WHP, 58-year-old Lynn Freeman of Williford, Arkansas and 23-year-old Jenay L. Breden of Westminster, Colorado were both pronounced dead on scene. The women were in separate vehicles during the crash.

In addition, the count for the total number of vehicles involved in the pileup has been increased to 64.

connection with the wreck. Alex Dragaytsev, from Quebec, Canada, was arrested yesterday.

“As part of the investigation, information was relayed to the Albany County Attorney’s Office,” says Sergeant David Wagener with the Wyoming Highway Patrol. “Based on the evidence that was collected and in conference with the Albany County Attorney’s Office, a decision was made to arrest and charge him with aggravate vehicular homicide."

Sergeant Wagener says the specific evidence leading to the arrest is part of the pending criminal investigation and is not releasable at this time.

Dragaytsev is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court no later than around 5:30 p.m. on April 23, 2015.

The crash closed the stretch of Interstate 80 for much of the day yesterday. Eastbound lanes reopened last night at 11:24 p.m., and westbound lanes were anticipated to open sometime this morning. Updates on the closure can be found at www.wyoroad.info or by calling 1-888-WYO-ROAD.

The WHP encourages Motorists to plan ahead by checking road and weather conditions, follow digital message sign warnings and variable speed limits, decrease speeds and increase following distances when they encounter inclement weather, and to always buckle up.
