We've heard a lot about fake news recently, but even worse than that are fake emails. If you're a Netflix consumer then take heed, because they're coming after you.

There have been reports that Netflix users are receiving emails from what appear to be from the online streaming company. But they're coming from scammers and it could cost you money if you fall into their trap.

People have received emails from what they think are from Netflix, but when they click on the link, they are taken to a site that looks very similar to the actual Netflix home page.

At this point, they are asking for some very sensitive and personal information.

  • Social Security Number
  • The name on your credit card
  • The security code on the back
  • The expiration date
  • The credit card number

Netflix has assured its customers that they will never ask for this kind of personal information in an email. Nor will they ask for payment information.

Should you receive an email like this, don't open it. Instead, go directly to the Netflix website should you need to update any personal information or make changes to your payment methods.
