At almost 12,000 feet, La Paz, Bolivia, is one of the world’s highest capital cities and for centuries the locals have chewed coca leaves to ward off the effects of altitude sickness. Interesting … they get high to fight the altitude...

Coca is the key ingredient in cocaine, but the unprocessed leaf is legal and widely chewed in Andean countries. Bolivia’s Culture Minister says

“The Pope specifically wants to chew coca, so we will be awaiting the Holy Father with the sacred coca leaf.”

That's cool. He's cool, here's proof.

You’d think he’d wait to be there during the high holy days.
