Over 550 miles of interstate highway in Wyoming have closed because of a raging late winter storm bringing blizzard conditions to the eastern and southern parts of the state.

All of Interstate 25, which runs from Buffalo to the Colorado state line, is closed along with Interstate 80 from Rock Springs to the Nebraska state line.

Heavy snow hit Cheyenne about mid-morning Wednesday and was spreading into Colorado and Nebraska.

The National Weather Service says these conditions will continue throughout the day and extend into the day Thursday at 6 p.m.

School was cancelled Wednesday in many places and about 1,000 flights into Denver have also been cancelled.
