Wyoming Authorities Search for Man Who Abducted Girl, Tried to Assault Woman
Authorities in western Wyoming are looking for a man who allegedly abducted one woman and attempted to assault another woman Wednesday evening.
The Afton Police Department says a juvenile female reported that a man forced her into a vehicle somewhere in Afton. She was reportedly taken to the Smoot area, where she was able to get away from the suspect and get help.
Later Wednesday, the same suspect went into a business in Afton and tried to assault a female clerk in the back room.
In both incidents, the same description of the suspect was given. He is described as a 43- to 45-year-old man, 5'8" to six feet tall weighing roughly 180-200 pounds.
He has sandy blonde crew-cut hair and an unshaven face with a reddish-blonde mustache. The man was wearing light brown or tan coveralls that were greasy or dirty and a t-shirt of an unknown color.
The man was reported to have very strong body odor.
He was reportedly driving a dark red or black older-model single-cab flatbed truck with Idaho license plates. The plate number is unknown.
In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, Afton Police Chief Jason Romberg said he could not go into detail about how the girl escaped, or whether the attempted assault was sexual in nature.
Both the Afton Police Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office are actively searching for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Afton Police Department at 307-885-3141, or the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 307-885-5231.
