With Sturgis in full swing and thousands of motorcyclists expected to pour into Hulett Wednesday for their annual Ham 'N Jam, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to be mindful of bikers.

"We have a lot of motorcyclists converging in one area," said Lt. Kyle McKay.  "Motorists need to be patient with the extra traffic."

"Motorists should give additional following distance behind a motorcycle," he added.  "If a regular vehicle collides with a motorcycle, the motorcyclist doesn't have the same protection as a person in a car or truck, so they will probably get hurt."

Ninety-six people have died on Wyoming's highways so far this year, 13 of which were on motorcycles.
