Wyoming House Minority Floor leader Cathy Connolly (D-Albany County) said Wednesday Wyoming lawmakers need to discuss a "two-tiered state income tax."

Connolly made the comments Wednesday afternoon at a news conference in response to Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon's State of the State speech earlier in the day. Connolly said she plans to re-introduce legislation to prompt that discussion.

While the Albany County lawmaker did not call outright for the implementation of an income tax, she did say ''we need to simply have the discussion and understand what a modest income tax would look like."

She said that discussion should include an income tax "both for individuals and especially for corporations. We need to start doing that, and not simply shy from the conversation and say we aren't going to do it."

Wyoming is currently one of seven states with no personal income tax.
