Wyoming Man Wins Daniel Negreanu’s Seat At World Series of Poker Main Event
Richard Dixon is one of the best poker players in Wyoming. This weekend at the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, his $10,000 seat will be staked by one of the best players in the world.
Dixon recently won an online contest hosted by Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu. The Cheyenne native was one of three upcoming poker pros selected by fans on Negreanu's Facebook page.
To determine the winner, Negreanu assigned a card to each one of the finalists. Whichever card he pulled from the deck first would win the Main Event seat. After Negreanu chose another card, it appeared as if Dixon had lost. Then the six-time WSOP bracelet winner played his trump card and announced that he would stake all three of the finalists.
Dixon will try to make the Poker Kid's investment pay off this weekend in Vegas. In just over three years as a professional, Dixon has over $300,000 in career earnings, including a first place finish at last year's Colorado Poker Championship Spring Series and a second-place finish at the Deepstack Extravaganza in Las Vegas.
