Alta, Wyo. is 5,708 miles away from PyeongChang, South Korea. Next month, USA freestyle skiier Jaelin Kauf is hoping to bring a gold medal back to her hometown.

According to the experts, she has a good chance. Coming into the 2018 Winter Olympics, Kauf is the top ranked female mogul skiier in the world.

Respresenting her country, and her home state, is a dream come true for Kauf. Her parents, Pattie and Scott, were both professional skiiers. Growing up in the mountains of western Wyoming, she was on skis before she learned how to walk.

Last month, Kauf took second place at a World Cup moguls event in Utah to clinch her spot on the US Olympic Team. After the event, she shared the accomplishment with her friends and family back in Alta.

"It was amazing being able to have all my family there and share it with them, and it seemed like half of Teton Valley was up there cheering me on, as well,” she told KPVI television.

Hopefully, they'll have another victory to celebrate next month.
