Wyoming’s Biggest Cubs Fans Prepare For World Series
For 23 years, Chip and Mark Morton have owned and operated Mort's Bagels in downtown Cheyenne. This week, however, their hearts will be in the "other Windy City".
The Morton brothers were born and raised in Chicago and have been long-suffering Cubs fans since childhood.
Many of their fondest memories took place at Wrigley Field watching legendary players like Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo and Fergie Jenkins.
Like generations of Cubs fans, they've endured decades of losing and heartbreak. Over the years, they've kept the faith, hoping that, some day, their beloved Cubbies would go all the way.
Every summer, they return to the Friendly Confines to see their favorite team.
Saturday night, when the Cubs advanced to the World Series for the first time in 71 years, the Mortons lauded the historic win on their Facebook page.
"They did it! They finally did it! The Cubs are going to the World Series!"
Four more wins and they'll really be really be celebrating.
