You Waited Until Now To File Taxes? Good Luck!
Americans are waiting longer to file their taxes again this year, a trend growing from last year when the IRS reported that one-fifth of all Americans who filed taxes in 2016 did so between April 8 and April 22.
In Cheyenne, I tried to find out if the Post Office is extending their hours to accommodate last minute filers, but their web sites are void of helpful information, the phones go unanswered, messages unreturned.
I did get one very pleasant human at a smaller station, but he said he was “out of the loop and didn’t know. But check the web site!” Me: “I did, but there's no helpful information.” “Let me give you this number…” I called and it went into a phone cue that said the mailbox was full.
My personal opinion, and that is all it is, MY PERSONAL OPINION, is that the Cheyenne Postal Service is the worst run outfit I have ever encountered in all my travels, which are extensive. I appreciate the workers, especially for their efforts to “Stamp Out Hunger,” but management seems to need flushing.
That said, here is what the websites say for Postal collection hours. It does say "Tax Day" is Tuesday, April 18th. but offers no other helpful information.

For those wondering about using the post office at the recently closed Town & Country Pharmacy at 514 South Greeley Highway, they transferred prescriptions to the Safeway next door, and say the two postal employees will remain for the next four months, but I cannot confirm as no one answers the phone.
After this, I expect I will never receive another letter or package on time in my life. But it’s how I see it. Sorry, not sorry.
