The Weird Week Between Holidays

Every notice how nothing gets done between Christmas and New Years?

The DMZ week of the year I call it. No mans land, time between time and the bridge from holiday to holiday. Retail is working hard, it's the white collar business world that comes to a crashing halt. No big meetings, mergers, money moving taking place. Just calm and a sigh of relief, that one year is over and the next it just starting.

Smart employees take vacation from Christmas to New Years. With the holidays and weekend you can stretch your vacation. Last year I got almost ten days off by only taking four. I was bored out of my mind with my wife at work and me at home all day. It's not the greatest time to take a vacation either. The dead of winter doesn't make for a lot of outside activities.
