Forecasters are saying wind chill conditions could reach -35 degrees in southeast Wyoming next week.

Meteorologist Rob Cox with the Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service says the first wave of cold weather is expected to hit Monday and Monday night. A strong arctic front will being in light to moderate snowfall, creating icy, slick roadways.

Cox says windchill temperatures in the area Monday night could reach -10 to -20 degrees.

But even colder weather may hit the area on Tuesday, with actual temperatures, as opposed to wind chills, reaching well down into the minus teens range. That could result in dramatically cold wind chills hitting somewhere between minus 20 and minus 35 degrees.

Some light snow is also possible with the second cold wave, but the extreme cold is expected to pose the biggest problem. Residents are being warned to find appropriate shelter for the bitterly cold conditions through Thursday of next week.
