The Outfield was one of the hottest power pop bands of the 80s, and their monster “Your Love” hit was everywhere in 1986. The man who wrote, sang and played it, guitarist John Spinks, died of liver cancer Wednesday.  He was 60.

Their peaked at #6 with “Your Love” and it’s been covered over 1,000 times, most recently by Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.  The Outfield’s other hits include “Say It Isn’t So” and “All the Love in the World.”

John Spinks, thank you for the music. Listen to The Outfield now.
