Air Force Secretary Visits F.E. Warren, Announces Changes

The Air Force is making major improvements to how it supports and empowers the Airmen who perform the nuclear mission, that’s according to Deborah Lee James, Secretary of the U.S. Air Force.

James visited F.E. Warren Air Force Base Monday along with Lt. Gen. Stephen Wilson, the commander of Air Force Global Strike Command.

James says some of the changes include investing $50 million this year and $350 million over five years to upgrade and maintain the nuclear force. She says they are also planning to add approximately 1,100 positions across the nuclear enterprise to ensure it is properly manned. She says the plan also calls for fostering a culture of empowerment among the nuclear Airmen. James also announced that a they will stand up a Helicopter Alert Facility at at F.E. Warren.

James first visited the F.E. Warren Air Force base just days after a cheating scandal was uncovered at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. She says durring her current trip, she will also visit Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana and MInot Air Force Base in North Dakota.
