Attempted Murder Charge Dismissed in Laramie County Jail Fight
The case against a Cheyenne inmate who was charged with attempted first-degree murder for trying to strangle another inmate has been dismissed.
The attorney for 28-year-old Victor Jackson successfully argued Wednesday that her client did not plan on trying to kill inmate Michael Budimir when the two got into a fight “over the hot pot” on June 9.
Jail footage from the incident reportedly shows Jackson charging Budimir and choking him on the floor while his brother, Duane Jackson, acts as a barrier between him and the other inmates.
“This is a jail fight,” said Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Denise Nau. “There is no evidence of attempt to kill Mr. Boudimir.”
Jackson is in jail awaiting trial on four counts of first-degree sexual assault, strangulation and domestic battery.
Duane Jackson is jailed awaiting sentencing for first-degree sexual assault of a minor.
