David Settle

A native of Fort Collins, Colorado, David Settle earned a degree in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming in 1998.  He originally joined KOWB/KCGY in June of 1998 as a board operator.  He was named the full-time Sports Director in July of 1999.  In July of 2009, he added the title of Operations Manager to his responsibilities.  He has also worked as an intern for Wyoming Public Radio and KIIX radio in Fort Collins.  As the Sports Director, he is in charge of covering all aspects of the local sports scene.  He broadcasts five sportscasts every weekday, coordinates all sports programming for KOWB/KCGY, is a co-host of Sportsline Live three days a week, the primary host of Cowboy Talk and the “Voice of” the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen, as well as the Laramie Rangers.  In 2007, 2008 and 2010, he won the award for “Best Play-by-Play” from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.  As Operations Manager, he oversees the day-to-day functions of both KOWB and KCGY.  David is happily married.  He and his wife Sara, have two daughters, Mikaela and Paige. Wyoming Cowboys Picked to Finish 4th in Mountain Division

The Wyoming Cowboys have been tabbed to finish fourth in the Mountain Division during the upcoming 2013 season. The Mountain West Conference is holding its annual Media Days in Las Vegas through tomorrow. In addition to the preseason football poll, the MWC also unveiled its preseason all-conference team.

The new playing surface on Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium was recently completed. It features more of the traditional school colors of brown and "gameday" gold, as well as a new image of Wyoming's Teton Mountains in the end zones.

Offense Rallies for a 92-60 Win in Wyoming Cowboy Spring Game

After a slow start, the offense came on late in the second quarter and then controlled the second half for a 92-60 win over the defense in the Wyoming Cowboys Spring Game Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. It was the finale of the 15 practices the Cowboys are permitted in the spring, which began March 26th.

Laramie Soccer Schedules Change Due to Weather [UPDATED]

Thanks to the recent snow storm and more predicted in the weather forecasts, the schedules for the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen soccer teams have been adjusted. Wyoming Cowboy Basketball Tied to ESPN Special on NCAA Tournament

Gorrell and Boehme Leave Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball Program

In a bit of a surprising move, the Wyoming Cowgirls are losing two more players than was originally expected after the 2012-13 season wrapped up on March 21st. University of Wyoming head women’s basketball coach Joe Legerski announced Tuesday that forward Aubry Boehme and guard Alison Gorrell have decided not to return to the Wyoming basketball program next season to pursue other opportunities.

Wyoming Cowboys Season Ends in Overtime Defeat

It was another nail-biter for the Wyoming Cowboys, but this time the heroics came from the opponent. The Western Michigan Broncos left Laramie with a 75-67 overtime victory over UW in the CBI Quarterfinals Monday night at the Arena-Auditorium. Western Michigan's David Brown buried a right corner 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds left that tied the game at 59 and forced overtime. Then the Broncos out-scored the Pokes 16-8 in the extra session to advance on to the CBI semifinals.

Bears Bounce Cowgirls From WNIT

Behind three players in double figures, the Northern Colorado Bears stunned the Wyoming Cowgirls 71-63 Thursday night in the first round of the WNIT at the Arena-Auditorium. Northern Colorado knocked down 12-of-15 free throws in the final 4:25 to hold on for the victory. The Bears tied a school record with their 21st win of the season.

Sobey’s 3 at the Buzzer Propels Cowboys Past Lehigh, 67-66

Nathan Sobey buried a 3-pointer from the deep left corner off a pass from Josh Adams at the buzzer, and the Wyoming Cowboys topped the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 67-66 in the first round of the CBI Tuesday night at the Arena-Auditorium. The Pokes rallied from a 7-point deficit with five minutes left and closed the game on a 10-2 run for the stunning victory.
