The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities is planning a $2.4 million project to equalize the water pressure throughout the system, according to BOPU spokesman Clint Bassett. He says currently water pressure levels in some parts of the system are as high as 180 pounds per square inch. Bassett says pressure that high can shorten the useful life of water lines and contribute to breakage and other problems. He says the equalization project will result in a more standard level of water pressure, which will not exceed 120 psi pressure anywhere in the system. The pressure equalization project is just one of several BOPU projects planned for the summer of 2012, according to Bassett.
