Last season’s 14 – 13 score in Laramie had the East High Thunderbirds taking the state championship from the Natrona County Mustangs.

Last night at South Cheyenne’s Bison Stadium (Okie Blanchard Stadium not finished yet), NC was avenged.

The Thunderbirds came out of the gates with an opening scoring drive drawing first blood, but in the end, it would be the only time that the Thunderbirds would see the end zone. There was a glimmer of hope at the end of the 4th quarter when the Thunderbirds had 2:07 left on the clock but they also had 99.5 yards to go to get back in the game. But the Mustangs were dialed in and shut down the pass attack and the East High running game. The Thunderbirds penalties had killed momentum and their 5 turnovers proved impossible to recover from.

East fought hard, but they came up short at end. Natrona County owned the game from the 2nd quarter on and the game ended with a 14 – 7 score and Mustang redemption.
