Thousands of tourists will be flocking to town this weekend for Cheyenne Frontier Days. Once again, the annual event will generate millions in revenue for our local restaurants and bars.

And while there's several types of restaurants and taverns that could succeed here in Cheyenne, there's one thing we're sorely missing; a rooftop bar and patio in the historic Downtown district.

There's several buildings that would be idea for a rooftop lounge. Imagine taking the elevator to the roof of the Plains Hotel on Lincolnway? It would draw a crowd every night during CFD and on the weekends throughout the summer.

There are several other venues that could accommodate a rooftop patio. How 'bout the Hynds building on Lincolnway and Capitol? Or the Boyd building on Carey Avenue? The building that currently houses the Suite Bistro on 1901 Central already has a rooftop 'apartment', why not set up a lounge area for customers?

There are several establishments in Fort Collins who have retrofitted historic buildings to allow for rooftop decks. Denver's LoDo district is full of rooftop bars. Cheyenne needs one too.
