A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department is reminding parents and motorists to be careful on Halloween.

Officer Dan Long says parents need to make sure their kids' costumes are highly visible so they can be seen by motorists. He advises using either reflective tape or chemical lights so that young trick or treaters can be easily seen.

Long is also reminding motorists that children may dart unexpectedly into the street or otherwise engage in unsafe or unpredictable behavior, so drivers should slow down and watch carefully, especially in residential areas.

Long also says the CPD will be especially on the lookout for drunk drivers as adult parties are held. He says anyone drinking alcohol needs to either arrange for a designated driver or get a taxi rather than driving themselves home.
