Cheyenne’s New Gaming Shop Passes Go: Game Masters is Now Open!

"Gaming brings people together." Those four words are something of a life motto with Mr. Brad Koch, owner of Game Masters. For Brad, 'gaming' goes beyond boards, consoles, and controllers. It's about connecting with others, and it's been a part of his life since childhood.

I've had the pleasure of meeting with Brad on other gaming projects, including the Wyoming Gaming Library and the Cheyenne Gaming Convention (returning to Cheyenne this April!) Game Masters is the latest adventure in this gamer's journey. And he, along with the team at the shop, has invited all of Cheyenne to join in on the fun.

What is Game Masters?

Game Masters is a unique mix of gathering space and gaming shops. The shelves are lined with everything from classic board games to the latest RPG tabletop, old-school gaming consoles to the latest PS5. You'll find Dungeons and Dragons accessories, Pokemon cards, and Magic the Gathering there, too. And tables, let's not forget the tables.

Instead of just purchasing games at Game Masters, visitors are encouraged to play. Need help figuring out a new game? The staff is happy to help. So, settle down at one of the several custom-made tables by Henklemade for a dungeon raid or round of Risk. Or check out one numerous console games plugged into televisions on the far wall, just begging to be played. Settle in with a hot pocket or pizza rolls, and dive in!

Building Community Through Gaming

Connecting with the community is a key part of the Game Masters' business model. The shop offers rental space for parties where guests can settle in for an hour or two of Supermsash Bros or an epic round of Monopoly. Brad envisioned it as a place for companies to team-build or where families can host birthday parties.

"The energy from the community, already getting tons of messages asking 'When are you open? We want to come in and check out some games!' is amazing," said Brad of the shop's opening. "We just want to provide that awesome space for friends and family to have fun."
