Are you excited that the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway?

Colorado Avalanche fans are excited because their team will face the Minnesota Wild in the first round of playoffs beginning Thursday, April 17, at the Pepsi Center.

The best of seven series starts with two games in Denver before the teams head to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on Monday, April 21.

Sixteen NHL teams are competing for the Stanley Cup;

  • Chicago Blackhawks vs St. Louis Blues
  • Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Mighty Ducks
  • L.A. Kings vs San Jose Sharks
  • Philadelphia Flyers vs N.Y. Rangers
  • Columbus Blue Jackets vs Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Montreal Canadiens vs Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Detroit Red Wings vs Boston Bruins

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper declared this week the start of 'Avs Playoff Fever' and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock proclaimed this 'Burgundy and Blue Week' in the Mile High City in honor of the Avalanche uniform's colors.

This is the first time in four years that the Avalanche has made the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
