Next week is the first day of Autumn and we have a great Indian Summer going on in Wyoming, warm temps after a cold snap last Thursday and Friday.

Here's what Wikipedia says about Indian Summer: An Indian summer is a heat wave that occurs in the autumn. It refers to a period of above-normal temperatures, accompanied by dry and hazy conditions, usually after there has been a killing frost. It occurs in the Northern Hemisphere between late September and mid November.

So our frost last week wasn't a killer, if you covered your plants and flowers. if you didn't you have some crispy leaved on your vegetables. The term Indian summer reached England in the 19th century, during the heyday of the British Raj in India. This led to the mistaken belief that the term referred to the Indian subcontinent. In fact, the Indians in question were the Native Americans, and the term began use there in the late 18th century.

Enjoy temperatures in the 80's over the next few days and dry conditions.
