LCCC To Request $20 Million For Buildings

Laramie County Community College Trustees voted 7-0 last night to ask voters in November for a $20 Million bond levy to build two new buildings. The proposal will be scheduled as a special election, since 2013 is not a regular election year.

LCCC spokeswoman Lisa Murphy says a new Student Services Building would be located between the college’s dining room and the Rodeo Arena. She says the Flexible Technology Building would be located on the eastern portion of the Cheyenne Campus, and would help accommodate the college’s new welding program as well as some of the courses the college is adding in response to the Niobrara oil play.

Murphy says the new buildings are needed because the college continues to grow, adding that although the buildings are in the planning stages right now, they have actually been needed for some time. If the proposal is approved it would add about $43.70 a year in taxes on property valued at $200,000, according to Murphy.
