Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup Reportedly Features Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers + More

Looks like Ozzy Osbourne is finally “cool enough” to play at Lollapalooza, seeing as Black Sabbath have been leaked as one of the headliners of the Chicago festival. Also reported to play the 2012 bill are Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Keys, Jack White, Die Antwoord, At the Drive-In and many more.

After the unfortunate turn of events for the recently reunited Black Sabbath — including guitarist Tony Iommi‘s Lymphoma diagnosis and drummer Bill Ward‘s contract dispute — Sabbath were forced to narrow down their occupation of the U.S. from a full-blown tour to a single date. Following weeks of speculation as to where this Sabbath show (most likely without Bill Ward) would be, it seems like Lollapalooza will be the setting.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Sabbath’s inclusion in Lollapalooza is that Ozzy Osbourne’s rejection from the festival in the mid-90s led to the inception of the now legendary Ozzfest.

Originally founded in 1991 as a touring farewell for Jane’s Addiction, Lollapalooza now resides in Chicago and has even made its way to Chile and Brazil. The 2012 Lollapalooza festival will be held at Grant Park in Chicago from August 3-5. Although the official lineup is set to be revealed on April 11, click here to check out the leaked list of bands who are reportedly playing this year’s festival.
