Mayor Says City Battling Pothole Problem
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says a combination of factors beyond the city's control combined to make the pothole problem worse than usual this year.
But he says city crews are working overtime to catch up. Kaysen says one issue arose in early April when a company that manufactures the "hot mix" used to repair potholes ran into problems at it's factory. That mean the city was delayed getting the mixture by a couple of weeks.
The mayor says the second problem this year has been the weather, specifically worse than usual "freeze-thaw" patterns that created more of the street hazards than usual. But the mayor says the city is doing everything it can to catch up on street repairs, adding he gets a lot of comments from residents about potholes and is very aware of the problem.
