New Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center Open House

Tourism officials hosted an open house for the new $13 million dollar Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center Friday afternoon. The center is located along the east side of I-25 at the New High Plains Road exit (Exit 4) near the Wyoming/Colorado border.

State Tourism Director Diane Shober says the center features rammed earth walls, wind turbines and solar panels which generate renewable energy. There is a kiosk in the center that shows the energy levels. Governor Matt Mead says  the new visitors center is great for the tourism industry because its a building that is large enough and creative enough to show everything we have to offer in Wyoming.  Former Governor Dave Freudenthal says the new visitors center will be here for decades and welcome millions of people to the state.  Shober and the Wyoming Office of Tourism staff are housed in the new welcome center.
