Visit Cheyenne Executive Director Darren Rudloff says a new "family friendly" event has been added to this year's New Year's Eve Ball Drop celebration.

He says this year for the first time there will be a "Family New Year's" event from 4-6 p.m. in the Cheyenne Depot lobby. He says the event will be geared towards children and will feature crafts and refreshments for kids as well as a "mini ball drop" at 6 p.m.

The Family New Year celebrations being presented in conjunction with the Children's Museum of Cheyenne. Rudloff says the adult celebration gets underway with  a disc jockey and a cash bar in the depot lobby starting a 9.p.m.

There is no cover charge for that event.

Rudloff says the event will conclude with fireworks and the ball drop to welcome in 2015 at midnight.
