Wyoming men need to get screened for prostate cancer and to be aware of what’s going on in their bodies. That’s the message of a Wyoming Department of Health news conference Thursday in the rotunda of the state capitol building.

Governor Matt Mead told the gathering that prostate cancer is almost 100% curable when caught early, adding men need to talk to their doctor about the disease and make sure they are screened for it.

State health officer Dr. Wendy Braund says men may be confused about what seem to be conflicting reports about who should be screened for prostate cancer, but encouraged men to discuss the issue with their doctors. She also says avoiding general risk factors for cancer, such as a poor diet and lack of physical activity are also helpful for preventing prostate cancer.
