Elton John, Freddie Mercury of Queen and Rob Halford Of Judas Priest came out as gay and nobody seemed to care. Joan Jett doesn't want to alienate anybody and avoids being labeled by saying her life is in my lyrics. But would YOU risk YOUR CAREER by copping to what is really nobody’s business anyway?

If “macho rockers” can get over it, how do you suppose country fans will take the news?

Like an inevitable future episode of Nashville, two country stars put it all on the line and came out of the closet yesterday.  First Ty Herndon and then Billy Gilman.  Ty brought his truth to "Entertainment Tonight".  He says the biggest lie he ever told himself was that he couldn't be gay and be in country music.  He also says he's in a relationship, and he hopes his boyfriend will PROPOSE to him after the interview.

Married twice before, Herndon reveals that both of his ex-wives were "absolutely" aware of his sexuality.

Ty Herndon inspired Billy Gilman to make his own announcement on YouTube yesterday.

I guess that means no songs about his wife leaving him. As for Kenny Chesney, your move sir."

Jokes aside, living in fear has got to be more painful than finally breaking free and living the truth instead of a lie. Easy to say as a breeder. To those mentioned, I respect your courage.

As music fan, would an announcement from your favorites make a difference in your support?
