Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says he's hearing a lot of concerns from employers about the prospect of Wyoming not expanding Medicaid.

Expansion of the program is one facet of federal health care reform, but Governor Matt Mead says he doesn't trust federal promises to help cover the cost. Steenbergen says that while he hasn't conducted a poll of chamber members on the issue, a lot of business owners do seem concerned. He says he often hears comments that the state is already contributing tax dollars to fund Medicaid, but that refusing the expansion means the state will not get some of it's money back. The the state will have to pay for health coverage for residents who need it.
