Thousands of superheroes, comic book characters and people normally only seen on the movie screen will be in Cheyenne next month for the second annual Cheyenne Comic Con.

Event spokesman Mike Charles says last year's first-ever Cheyenne Comic Con drew 14,000 people, and organizers are expecting even bigger crowds this year. Charles says that includes visitors from as far away as New York City and even foreign countries.

To accommodate the large numbers of people expected, this year's event has been moved to Frontier Park and is scheduled for May 12,13 and 14, which is also Mother's Day weekend.

Charles says a long list of celebrities is expected, headlined by Billy Dee Williams of Star Wars, Lou Ferrigno of the tv series "The Incredible Hulk," "Highlander's" Adrian Paul, Seth Gilliam of "The Walking Dead," and artist Mike Grell.

Many of those attending the event get into character and costume as any number of fictional characters from pop culture, the movies, and comics.

Charles notes many of those folks have been working on their costumes for months in anticipation of the event, adding the artistic ability and creativity that is displayed is try amazing. Charles says tickets are available online and will also be sold at the gate.
