For a lot of Elton John fans, his garish stage costumes are part of his charm -- but one Russian organization is hoping to pressure him into toning down his wardrobe during his upcoming visit to their country.
Elton John is suffering from a serious respiratory infection, and has been forced to cancel performances of his Las Vegas show The Million Dollar Piano on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
When they entered the studio to work on songs for a follow-up to 2009′s ‘Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate,’ Puddle of Mudd had a hard time finding the inspiration for new material — so they decided just to have fun playing some of their favorite tunes by other artists.
“We were really burned out, and when we started trying to write again it just wasn’t time yet,” said guitarist Paul Phillip in a recent Billboard interview. “We had been doing (AC/DC’s) ‘TNT’ and (the Steve Miller Band’s) ‘The Joker’ and had so much fun with those that one thing led to another, and we decided to make a covers record. It was just something fun to do, and we had a blast.”
Elton John has announced that he will be returning to the Las Vegas Strip for a three-year run at the Caesars Palace casino's Colosseum venue. The residency will begin on September 28th, and tickets for the first 16 performances will go on sale Monday, April 25th.
Elton John put on a show as host of Saturday Night Live this weekend, marking only his second appearance on the long running sketch comedy show.
In his opening monologue, John proclaimed the bitch is back before launching into a series of jokes about his new baby boy, whom John said was born with ten fingers, ten toes, and $400 million dollars. John also joked about Lady Gaga being his sons (named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John) godmother.
As for the actual sketches, many seemed to rely on jokes about Johns British roots, his flamboyant stage persona and his sexuality, including one sketch titled the Old West, in which John played, well, a flamboyant cowboy. (Really, can you blame the writers? Were still trying to figure out why John hosted in the first place.)
