Paul McCartney randomly stirs in deep cuts to keep his concert set lists interesting, but including 1980's "Temporary Secretary" was no accident. He says he returned to the McCartney II track after a DJ helped it take off in dance clubs across Europe.

"I started to hear rumors that this guy is going crazy over 'Temporary Secretary,'" McCartney told Rolling Stone. "I'd always enjoyed the record, which I made when I was sort of experimenting with synthesizers and sequencers when they first came out on the record I made, McCartney II. I'd pretty much forgotten it."

Keyboardist Paul "Wix" Wickens was left to figure out the specifics, since "Temporary Secretary" was originally recorded on an ancient Arp sequencer. McCartney debuted the track for the first time ever onstage last year at the O2 Arena in London.

"I like that things I thought were good at the time, that maybe didn't get that noticed, then come around on their second lap," McCartney said. "Suddenly, it resurfaces. That's something I love about music. It's very rewarding for me."

Fans at McCartney's current One on One U.S. tour are also being treated to an acoustic version of "FourFiveSeconds," the 2015 collaboration he made with Kanye West and Rihanna.

"I like the grooves that I originally did and that Kanye must have liked. It was good to take it back to where it started," he said. "I must admit, I think, 'Oh, my God, all the older people who are all going to be singing "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" are not going to know what this is.' They know more than you think. In a show that spans many years, it's nice to have something recent."
