A strong thunderstorm moving through the Berthoud and Longmont area in northern Colorado spawned quarter size hail, area flooding and a tornado that damaged a number of homes.

Thursday afternoon a tornado was first spotted near Lyons and was seen moving through the area. Initial reports show that three homes were demolished in Berthoud and crews were still checking on reports of another 25 homes that were damaged or destroyed but were hampered by severe weather and darkness.

No injuries have been reported.
