Visit the Laramie County Fair! [SPONSORED]

(Mike Powell/Allsport)

The Laramie County Fair is Wyoming’s oldest and largest. Every year the fair events conclude with the 4-H Livestock Sale which will take place on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Beef Barn. One of the best ways to get great locally raised products can be from buying at the fair and you are supporting the young people raising the animals. Many people these days want to know what they are eating, you can get all of the answers by shopping at the fair and it is a whole lot of fun!

Five Reasons to Buy from Your Local 4-H

1. When you buy 4-H, it aids in supporting efforts to use the whole animal
When you buy a whole animal you have a responsibility to it, to use as much of it as you can. If you don’t have room in your freezer for all of the meat, consider going in on the purchase with friends or donate some of the product to a local food pantry.

2. 4-H animals are some of the best quality in the nation
Buying at the fair might just be your ideal shopping destination this summer! There are often plenty of high-quality animals that can be purchased at reasonable costs.

3. 4-H supports the education of local children
The lessons local kids learn by raising animals is absolutely invaluable. They learn how much time money and energy it takes to raise an animal. These are lessons that can only be learned by direct experience.

4. Knowing where your food comes from is not only very important but it teaches a life-long lesson to children, while shaping their future decisions with regards to food, cooking, and nutrition
Making choices about what we put into our bodies and choose to serve to our guests can be complicated. If you are seeking assurances about what you are eating the fair is the ideal shopping place. You can visit with the young farmers, scope out the animals and then see the impact that your purchase has.

5. It’s fun!
The county fair atmosphere offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Being able to choose an animal by looking at it, meeting the exhibitors and learning about their animals is a far cry from picking a product from a grocery store shelf.
