The first significant winter storm of the fall is expected to hit southeast Wyoming by this evening.

Cheyenne based meteorologist Don Day Jr. of Dayweather says increasing cloudiness can be expected to develop over the area today (Wednesday) with rain showers possible by afternoon. He says the rain will change to snow this evening, with a winter weather advisory in effect from 5 p.m. today through 8 a.m. Thursday.

Day says the storm could dump 2-4 inches of snow on the ground by Thursday morning.
