If you're a Wyoming resident, you know the term “Buckle Bunny.” You get the connection between a prized belt buckle worn by a rodeo champ, and possibly removed by, a "buckle bunny." Do you just question why a buckle bunny is assumed a bad girl?

A lot more women love men who, uh, rodeo (and you know the kind of rodeo meant here). I mean just because they’re fans does not mean they’re buckle bunnies.

Here’s a definition from wisegeek.com Buckle Bunny: Sort of a rodeo groupie, famous for dressing and behaving in sexually suggestive ways, some seek out intimate relationships with bull riders. See that? It reads some women; not all.

Maybe even city slickers can understand the phenomenon. Rodeo is, after all, a very demanding sport, so top competitors are usually in top physical condition. Non-rodeo guys might just envy them.

As always, Urban Dictionary is more blunt: A slutty dresser at the rodeo trying to hook up with a cowboy - usually but not always in a mini skirt, cheap boots and low cut top.

I don’t judge them. I more defend buckle bunnies. There are groupies of all types. Have you ever heard of a Badge Bunny? She has an attraction to those who wear an official badge - maybe on a uniform. Is that any different than how a woman may feel about a fireman. Surely no one sees anything wrong with that.

Shaming anyone who has weakness is the last thing I intend. Who doesn't have weaknesses. I sure can't throw the Biblical first stone. And I think a girl could do worse than a Cowboy - a lot worse.

Buckle Bunny is just a cute, harmless way to describe some women. They don't all offer a poor rodeo circuiteer a place to stay for the night. If one is called a “Buckle Buffer,” that may be more pejorative. That might be another level not just Buckle Bunny.
