Wyoming’s Unemployment Rate Unchanged in August
Wyoming’s unemployment rate in August was unchanged at 4.6 percent, that’s according to David Bullard, senior economist with the Research and Planning Section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. Bullard says the rate has remained at 4.6 percent since May. Bullard says Wyoming’s unemployment rate for August was lower than a year ago when it was 5.4 percent and was significantly lower than the current U.S. unemployment rate of 7.3 percent.
He says across Wyoming, county unemployment rates followed their normal seasonal pattern and fell slightly, or were unchanged from July to August. Sublette County posted the lowest unemployment rate in August at 3 percent, followed by Teton and Converse counties at both 3.1 percent, and Campbell and Niobrara counties at 3.5 percent. The highest unemployment rates were found in Fremont at 5.5 percent, Big Horn at 4.8 percent and Platte at 4.7 percent.
