81-Year-Old Man Caught Speeding Near Cheyenne with 35 Pounds of Marijuana
A South Carolina man is facing felony drug charges after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper found 35 pounds of marijuana in his rental car.
According to court documents, 81-year-old Henry Sentner of Myrtle Beach was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 80 west of Cheyenne around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Sentner reportedly told the trooper that he was on his way home from visiting family in California.
When the trooper ran a background check, he discovered Sentner had a history of "extensive felony behavior" and that he had previously lived in and been accused of crimes in California.
Sentner was asked if he had marijuana in the car and reportedly told the trooper that there were several pounds on the rear seat and some in the trunk. He also told the trooper that he "did the run often" and that the marijuana on the rear seat was part of his payment.
Sentner was arrested and has been charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and speeding. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
Sentner made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court yesterday (Tuesday) and posted $3,000 bond. His preliminary hearing was set for October 6, but a motion for continuance was filed and a new hearing date has yet to be scheduled.
