A Winter Olympics Tribute To Curling In Wyoming
Just in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics, here's a fun fact. Did you know there are three different curling clubs in the Cowboy State?
The Casper Curling Club is the largest. Unfortunately, they recently suspended their spring league, citing conditions at the Casper Ice Arena. Another group of curlers congregate at the Riley Arena in Cody. Curling is also a popular intramural sport at the University of Wyoming.
Several other venues across the state offer a different take on the sport. The annual Turkey Curling Tournament is hosted by the Laramie Ice and Events Center.
Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs also hosts an annual Turkey Curling competition. The Cheyenne Ice and Events Center has replaced the curling stone with frozen chickens for their annual fundraiser.
