Big Boy 4014’s Temporary New Home At The Cheyenne Depot

The machines that made America great by opening up this great land of ours and opening up the west in particular, had some heavy work to do. On the runs between Utah & Wyoming, there were some especially challenging grades and turns that required a new design that ended up with The Union Pacific's Big Boy series.

Number 4014 rolled into Cheyenne just over a week ago and is already being serviced in what will likely be a five year restoration.project. I believe this one is the main reason so many came out to Cheyenne Depot Days this last weekend.
